Andariya and Royaa Centre for Feminist Studies are pleased to hold a Feminist Retreat to strengthen local feminists’ resilience and ability to serve their communities. The retreat will focus on group healing and reflections to rejuvenate and revitalize young Sudanese feminists in this challenging time where cases of gender-based violence, harassment and femicide are alarmingly high in Sudan. Apply now and join us as we gather to focus on our mental and physical growth to help support the social and political changes we want to see in our Sudan, thinking about how our efforts to create change can be impacted if we had the time and space to find ourselves and to work from a place of healing. The retreat is open to feminists with demonstrable experience from Khartoum, El Gezira, River Nile, White Nile and North Kordofan. Costs of travel, accommodation, transport, per diem and boarding for successful applicants from outside of Khartoum will be covered by this project.

Conclusion
To conclude, June/2022 was a mixture of really good stuff and really bad stuff.
On the bad side, Russians continue to take Sudan’s gold via agreements with the current government, but there is in no any improvement at all in the Sudanese economy or the livelihood of Sudanese people from these deals that export the Sudanese gold to Russia. Sudan still face a huge devastating food crisis that threatens around 33% of the Sudanese population with famine. a shipment of 16000 sheep to Saudi Arabia drowned in the Red Sea resulting in the death of some sheep, and some are saved. The American government warned American businesses from reputational risk if they conduct business in Sudan. And the internet is shut down for three hours on daily basis to prevent cheating in the high school exams of Sudanese schools, which is outrageous.
On the bright side Canadian travel vlogger visited Sudan during economic and political turmoil and managed to film three astonishing travel vlogs, which are available in his YouTube Channel. 500 Words magazine launches a new project that aims to teach foreigners the Sudanese slang and local terminologies by explaining the meaning of one Sudanese term or word on weekly basis in its social media platforms. Sudanese National Airlines “Sudan Air” launches a weekly trip to Heathrow airport via Rabat International airport. Algeria and Sudan boosted their commercial and business collaborations. Central bank of Sudan issued a new banknote “1000 SDG”. UAE agrees with the Sudanese government to create an agricultural project in Red Sea state. A data research project about agriculture in Sudan was launched by DataQ and Amun Data.
Don’t forget to share it with your friends, family, and all those who might be interested. And see you next month !
Cheers,
Ahmed El-Affendi.
